I have dark brown hair, so why is my facial hair a light brown/red color?

Often naturally dark brown hair tends not to be one colour - usually a combination of lots of different shades. If you took out a selection of hairs from your head, you would be surprised at the variations of colours there will be - light browns, darks, reds, and gingers.

Clearly your facial hair has more concentration of the lighter shades, which is pretty common.

It seems to happen to a lot of guys. I used to know someone with blond hair and a red beard. My boyfriend has light brown hair but his beard has red, blond, brown and black hairs in it.

Your Facial hair has no relavance to your head hair. This means that you may have brown hair, but blonde facial hair. This is something to do with genetical variation.
