Haircolor with ash undertones will balance out the red. I did it myself with light ash brown from Sally's Beauty and it turned out pretty well. Always use lighter color than you want as end result b/c the colors usually come out darker than it shows on the box.

See a colorist at your salon for advice. Only he/she would know.

You would have to dye it with an ash base color. But it's best to go to a hair salon.

No, please don't just dye it another color!! It will NOT lift the artificial pigment from the previous haircolor.
If you have red TONES in your hair, which is what I'm assuming you mean, then yes, an ash (blue/green) toner would work to cancel them out.
You can also use a color-depositing shampoo, Artec makes a great one, that deposits color every time you use it and helps keep the color fresh.
This is a great site for hair coloring info, I highly recommend checking it out!

Reds are the HARDEST to remove as it is made up of the biggest molecule. I would go to a salon, depending on the shade of red your hair is and if it is natural or not will be major factors. If it's not a bright red then you could try Shimmer Lights shampoo, you can get it at Sally's Beauty Supply and most other beauty supplies as well, it runs about $6 and is a very nice moisturizing shampoo with a violet toner to it. Other than that if your hair is dyed red, be VERY careful what you do to it, alot of things really mess up with red dye, if it's natural you could possible just dye it using a neutral or ash color but there are no guarantees there either. going to a professional is your best and safest route!
