I would recommend that you bleach first else your hair will just look tinted red not a vibrant red.I have mid to dark hair and once dyed my hair red and if you wnat a full on vibrant effect i would bleach your hair fisrt. If you have not ever bleached your hair before i would recommend highly that you go to your hair stylist to have your colour and bleaching done as bleaching is very bad for your hair and even worse if you are in experienced.

I found that shade was not all that great to be honest, I tried it years ago and it washed out so quickly. Try Castings or Garnier colours, they are lovely, I am sorry I don't know the shades off the top of my head, but if you check the boxes it should show you a sample of what sort of colour reslut you can expect. Whatever you do, don't bleach your hair then put red on it, it will go orange, bleaching is best left to the professionals.

well, it could turn a yuckey pooish color, so i would suggest dyeing it a lighter brown first and the doing the red. that's what I did and it looks really good on me.

No, no no. Pick up a clarifying shampoo. It will lift off some of the color. Not much. OR - you can use dish soap (very drying) or nearly any kind of body wash. Just be sure to use plenty of conditioner so your hair doesn't dry out.

red mistakes are even worse than black. red fades fastest but takes the longest to completely go away. any color you dye over it now will just look reddish. if you strip the color and dye it with an ash color, it will even out a bit but you can expect it to still be reddish. you might want to go to a salon. red really is the most difficult to deal with

putting light red on your hair now will probably cause it to turn orange. you could use a color remover and start over but these products are very damaging to your hair. the dye will begin to fade over the next two weeks so you might find it best to just wait it out. if you do decide to remove the color and start over, be sure to give your hair a deep conditioning before and after the process and be really careful with it when you style over the next few weeks.

You will want to get a brown that is ash-based to counteract the red. If you get a brown that is warm, then it will still look reddish. I would strongly suggest just using a semi-permanent color.

You will also need to get a brown that is darker than what your hair is currently...for 2 reasons: So that you don't get "hot roots" (this is if you use a permanent color), and so that you actually get coverage on the red.

My strong advice is NOT to use a stripper as mentioned in an earlier answer. Strippers will damage your hair, pop your roots a lighter shade, and give it an orange hue.

wait three days and dye it dark auburn with semi permanent color. It is less harmful to your hair. It could look purplish for the first few days but only under florescent light. After that color is mostly gone you can try to dye it red again and it should take. That way you don't have to wait 6 weeks for your hair to recover from the permanent color that you just put on that made it orange.If you don't like Auburn try a different shade of brown but stay away from any hair color that has ASH in the name because it can turn blonde hair green.

It's not the color, it's the peroxide. You may have to bleach to get the red to show up. But you need a REALLY good conditioner. Get one for color treated hair. A professional one.

I would get it professionally done. If you don't, there is a huge chance that your hair will turn orange. And I mean circus clown orange!!!

Red highlightes look awesome on black hair, i would get a dark red so it doesn't stand out too much, and if your going to do it yourself and not professionaly, then i would be very careful. But i would reccommend that you get it done professionally, b/c when it comes to putting dye on top of dye, it might turn out a funky color.

honestly your hair will feel more damaged,thats a fact black is verry hard to get out of the hair so go to a professional salon and make sure they are a certified color expert! trust me if done this b4!!keep in mind that red also comes out of the hair the fastest it fades quick!! after coloring your hair get some conditioner for color treated hair try paul mitchell it works great but purchase at salon or beauty supply only!!i would also get a shampoo and conditioner for reds to keep the color longer!! make sure to take a pic with you to the salon so they know exactly what you want done!!!good luck =}

About 4 months ago I had platinum foils put throughout my long brown hair, I didn閳ユ獩 want them anymore so ive been putting brown rinses through it ever since and using a shampoo that adds brown pigmentation. Only last week I dyed my hair with a Golden Brown Tone on Tone color to try and get rid of the Red tinge the foils still carry, but it washed out and now im still left with that stupid tinge. What can I do to fill in the color so it stops reappearing?

You need to use a hair color that has an ash tone. Anything that says golden will bring out red and oranges. I have naturally dark brown hair that has some red in it. I have used an ash blonde coloring for the last 10 years on my hair and have been able to avoid the red/brassiness.

I have done the same thing before. Come to find out I have red tones in my hair. I just hadn't used a color before that brought them out. Stay away from ash colors, they will just make it orange. I was just sick of it and dyed my hair completely black. It fades really fast into a beautiful rich brown color... I used Revlon, can't remember the name of the black, but I used the 10 min color... Revlon isn't as harsh on your hair as other colors. I would try it if you want. I still have the red tones, but now I know that colors bring them out. Good luck!

Ohh, I know what you are going through. I am a blonde and went dark brown/black with bright white bangs. To get it back, I had to go to the salon and it is still not back. My hairdresser did highlights all over and then put a toner on it. We've done this twice over the last two months. Otherwise, she would have had to bleach out all the color first and then put on the dye that is the same as my natural color. It is going to take some time but I didn't want the all over bleach, it will fry your hair. So, we will do the highlights again and then eventually the color will be even and I can put a single dye on it to match my original. Trust me go to a professional, you will upset if you didn't. Or go to a hair college and let the students and teachers work on your hair, it might be like a project for them and you might be able to get a discount.

The detergent answer will RUIN your hair. It's likely already course since it's red.

You MIGHT be able to die it red again.... but it's not like you are trying to go from blonde to brown... this is a serious change, and if you do it wrong, you could wind up with VERY damaged hair by the time you are done.

Ask Mom for $$ if that's the prob.... or be prepared to cut it off and start all over again.

It is easy to add color to your hair, it is much harder to lighten it again, and even if you get some of the black color out, most likely it will take time for your natural color to return. I heard Prell shampoo can help remove color from a bad dye job. But I wouldnt try to dye it back yourself, unless you are a colorist.

Get yourself a lint roller. You can find them anywhere, even at the grocery stores, and they work great. Plus, you might entertain the idea of teaching your pooch that the couch is off-limits. This is the best option.

if you are one of those owners, like me, that wouldn't be able to deny your pup the option of laying on a comfy couch, i recommend getting a couch cover. they sell universal-sized ones at linens and things. otherwise, vacuum the couch like crazy (this is what i do).

Don't let him lie on the couch. If he jumps on it, tell him NO and take him back down again. Instead, buy him a good dog bed. My dogs used to lie on the couch a lot until they got their beds, and now they hardly even use the couch. When your dog gets on your couch, if you use the bed approach, don't tell him no, just remove him and place him in the bed. Telling him NO for being on the couch will make him think the bed is a punishment, which it is not. You may have to lure him into his bed with treats and toys at first. After a while, he will learn to like it.

The bleach comes is several degrees of bleaching.

I'd say you go with a good hair stylist so you get a proper hair job, because guessing which would be the proper degree of bleaching before using the hair tint is like wanting a super hair cut that looks like a million dollar in the picture, and then cut it yourself.

i would advise you go very very carefully with this one! Its not pure coincidence that a hairdresser wants to go for an xpensive job in putting it back again.

The main problem u have is actually getting the colour NOT to go bright orange or emerald green!

I think what you should do, if the original that you have on there now is NON permanant, is to BUY a colour kit of the SAME TYPE in a LIGHTER shade .. *NO MORE THAN 3SHADES would be best.

Then, after LEAVING IT for at least a fortnight before touching it with anything, try a strand test first and 'time' how long you have to leave it before it lightens.

Then just watch and see how long it takes to stop working. That way you can get the TIME correct.

Then do the same in another three weeks or so, making sure each time is done with the SAME product as originally used and NO MORE THAN 3 shades lighter than the new colour you have there.

KEEP doing that til you get what you want, leaving an extra week or fortnight between each application.

Obviously you DO A STRAND TEST before each time tried. And if you get any detremental effects wash off immediately. Thats probably not likely to happen if you do the 3wk/1mth wait between coats and complete strand test.

Just be very careful.

Other than that you could get a kit MUST BE THE SAME MAKE and highlight it in sections/streaks or similar.

You dont mention in your questions if it is a PERMANENT colour you have had done.

Cos if not you could wash; wait two days; wash again ; etc till its gone.

I was told that FAIRY LIQUID stuff was good for stripping hair. You put it on wet/damp hair; (combing thru to ends) put it on and wrap in a hot towel, put a carrier bag / bin bag turban on; (as u would with hot oil treatment) sweat it for a couple of hours, rinse thoroughly (maybe use vosene to make sure you get it all out... you should get it squeaking by rights (that means its clean - - and it will be lovely and soft)

**OBVIOUSLY this will only work if it's NON-PERMANENT**

If its permanent, just bundle it in a laccy band at the back of your head (if its behind you. you'll not see it) and keep away from ya mirror for 6months - - easy once youve done it for a week or so!! - - and dont make the same mistake again....

Or you can cut it!

Or you could find out if the local tech college near you has a hairdressing section and go as a model for them... thats a lot cheaper than the hairdressers quote!

Personally though, if you really cant, I mean if the look of it might cause you to jump off a tall building, then go back to the hairdressers. It'l be worth the money. If they balls it up u get compensated ; if it turns bright green or orange you're covered by their insurance public liability cover and at least you can have a cup of tea and a biscuit while you watch the performance!

OR... You could get people to sponsor you for a Cancer charity or something that is close to your heart, and SHAVE IT ALL OFF. That should make you happy cos you got rid of it, make you popular cos you did it for a good cause and it also means you wont lose face for the situation you found yourself in.

There you go! You've got several options there...

Now you have to choose which suits your personality best....

If you are a blonde by nature as well as hair colour then I am guessing (I'd also guess with the outrageous colour scheme you had going on there anyway) that you a totally confident person... and as such it shouldnt be too difficult to know which way you will probably go with...

i believe loreal has some bright highlighting color cremes that would be perfect for this instance. I used one and it was fantastic, but im an *** and cant remember it. i beive it has something to to with chunking *?* in the title...just look for some broad with bright red highlights on the box tht says highlights and you know your in buisness...if its not previously colored you might be able to just pickup a bright red hair color and use that with some success. if your going lighter it needs to be permanent, semis wont lift it...if it fades, *it will, bright colors always do* use bright red semis to bring it back, if you keep using the permanent color, it will fade out more and more quickly. manic panic will be great to brighten up dull ends after awhile or just look for other semi premanent brands. if you go to a salon matrix sored will do a great job, or redken hifusion fashion reds. wella has AMAZING success with magma, thats my favourite for going from dark colors to bright *im now a stylist* but you cant get those to use on yourself, very dangerousin the hands of an untrained person. I think the loreal one i mentioned will give you a rockin red...happy haircoloring!

i used l'oreal colour rays (in red) without bleaching my hair first. it's been about 3 weeks, and it's faded about halfway. it stayed a very bright and a vibrant cherry red (without orange tones) for about a week and gradually faded. since i'm not sure how well it will react to your natural hair (i'm at a medium brown), you may want to do a small test piece of your hair beforehand. it barely dried out my hair at all, but i suggest getting some form of deep conditioner before coloring your hair at all. i'm considering bleaching for my first time, not too intense but it will help the color stay in longer. good luck :]

I have dark brown hair and used to dye it all cherry red. You have to get hair dye that says "Permanent"; it has to actually lighten your hair plus put in red. Semi-permanent just puts color on top of your hair and will not work.

It depends on your skin tone and how dark your hair currently is. If you are pale, you should go with a lighter red because it will look more natural, like strawberry blonde or a more orangish color as opposed to auburn or deep reds. Also note that red hair dye fades the fastest.

If I were you I would test it out first with one of those semi-permanent type of hair colors; the kind that wash out after two weeks. If you get it done by a professional before seeing what you look like, you may regret it. Try the wash out color first and see if it flatters you.

I speak from personal experience. My husband was dying to know what I would look like as a redhead. He got my curiosity up too, so I went and got the wash out kind. I am SO glad I did, because I ended up looking horrible! If I had just gone ahead with the permanent color, without testing it first, I would have been stuck with that look for a while. ***shudder***

Lord is this ever an answer for my husband. He loves red heads but not strawberry blonde {most have tons of freckles and arent attractive} more like the alburn's. First, I am a stylist, second, it really depends on how much color they have to use, for waist length hair, even in a not so high-end salon, you are looking at between 65-100 dollars, plus the haircut, and any stylist worth her training can give you the layers you want ( I could ). You really need to realize, that your stylist wont be there to style it for you everyday..unless you are uber rich and can afford to have her do your hair everyday, so pick a style that you think you can do after she shows you how, and she will if she knows what she's doing, also, it's good to get a good shampoo and conditioner and styling products made for color treated or chemically treated hair. Your color will last longer.

As for going from brown to red, it shouldn't be too hard, depending on how many shades lighter you are going...brown to red means lighter because you would be taking out some color to get to the red stages in your hair. Make sure your stylist does a thorough consultation with you and you are sure about what you want. Bring a picture of the look you are trying to achieve if you can, that will really help!

It's also possible that it didn't have anything to do with the haircut. It could have been acne or a food allergy. Sometimes you don't get a reaction until a few hours after you come into contact with something.

No, no, no. No reddish color with olive skin. If you are lucky enough to have naturally black hair, don't spoil it with color. Use hair ornaments to add a touch of color if necessary. But for sure, don't use a red tint of anything. If you have to, lean more toward the orange family with burnt sienna or brick.

It's not the color, it's the peroxide. You may have to bleach to get the red to show up. But you need a REALLY good conditioner. Get one for color treated hair. A professional one.

Red highlightes look awesome on black hair, i would get a dark red so it doesn't stand out too much, and if your going to do it yourself and not professionaly, then i would be very careful. But i would reccommend that you get it done professionally, b/c when it comes to putting dye on top of dye, it might turn out a funky color.

Always use a new, super-sharp razor. And shave with the grain of hair, not against it. It grows back faster but you'll be more comfortable. And, of course when the time to shave rolls around again, use a handcloth or loofah or something to GENTLY exfoliate the area, which lets you get the closest shave possible.

dying hair multiple colors can look kind of cool. red or black would be nice with brown hair (not sure about blonde), but be warned extensions can easily look really tacky. if you want to get extensions i'd recommend ones that are the same color as your hair. and i'd fork out money for some nice ones.

Those are hair extensions put in with glue. If you can't afford to go to a hairdresser and have it done proffesionally, you can buy clip ins. I found some on ebay for you to give you an idea of what they look like, but you should find them in any place which sells fake hair.

When it starts fading, it turns pink. If you have really light hair (like blonde) I don;t recommend it.

Choose a color you like, the brighter the better. Mix two packets of unsweetened mix with a double quarter sized amount of conditioner. I cannot stress enough that this must be unsweetened Kool Aid. If you use the sugar-added type, your hair will be a mess. If you haven't bleached your hair first, go wet it. Put on a pair of gloves and apply the Kool Aid to your hair. If this is not enough to thickly coat the hair, mix up some more and continue. Wrap your head in plastic wrap and leave it. Leave it as long as you can stand it, all day if you can. The longer you leave it, the better the color will adhere to the hair.

Over time, the color will fade out. If you want it out quicker, toothpaste will speed up this process, but if you bleached the hair or you have really light hair normally, it will not remove the color totally.
