Brown hair dye can take red out.. because in order to make the brown you have to use red as a base...

it really depends on how dark the brown is.... but yes it will change the color... but.. your red.. like if its a bright red.. it could turn orange later on down the road... your best off to use a color remover and then dye over it.. or lighten the red ....

if its store bought red like from L'oreal or something.. then go for it.. the brown should cover it up no problem:D

Hope this helped good luck!

What color is your natural hair? You have to be careful, especially if your hair is light cause by dying it brown you can add red tones to it -- Have you tried a toner??

you should go to a professional because red is really hard to get rid of, or try color remover or bleach I have been trying to get rid of my red since July I am blonde but you can still see some orange (red) in it and I have it done by a professional

Well, it won't remove the red, but it will cover it up so it is less red and more brown.

You will want to get a brown that is ash-based to counteract the red. If you get a brown that is warm, then it will still look reddish. I would strongly suggest just using a semi-permanent color.

You will also need to get a brown that is darker than what your hair is currently...for 2 reasons: So that you don't get "hot roots" (this is if you use a permanent color), and so that you actually get coverage on the red.

My strong advice is NOT to use a stripper as mentioned in an earlier answer. Strippers will damage your hair, pop your roots a lighter shade, and give it an orange hue.
