Can i use a semi permanent red over black hair, will i be able to see it, or should i lighten first?

Depends what you want the end result to be and whether the black is natural. Natural black will be stained by it, and you will probably see the red in the sun. It will probably not cover dyed black, and it will not make your hair a noticably bright red.

If you have used a black color from a box you will not cover it until it grows out. but if your hair is naturally black it may show some highlights of the red.

Mmkay. i forgot what you call it, but @ the salons theyd use like this really bright blonde first, and the over it put like red or something, so it shows better.

But if your doing it yourself, dont do that. lol :]]

I just perm my hair with loreal excellence HiColor for dark hair in red and it's beautiful and you don't need to bleach or nothing you should try it they sale it in Sally beauty store.

Not necessarily. But.. You should perhaps try n lighten juz a wee bit first. No need to bleach it till youre all blonde unless you wanna do bright red. Im a fan of red hair myself, so i would advise that you go for a lightweight lightenin.. It enhances the color more. =)
