My hair is auburn and I wouldn't dye it for anything. When I was younger I didn't like my red hair. As I got older I really started to appreciate it. It's not very common and people compliment me on it all of the time. Don't let your hair become a liability. Learn to flaunt it with pride and show it off. It's all in the attitude as to whether it's attractive or not. You don't know how lucky you are. : )

I would suggest not dyeing it. However, maybe you could try one that is not permanent to start with, if you really want to do it.
